All Aboard Over the years, Link Up's Travel Training Support Programme has benefited a number of people with Learning Disabilities by developing awareness in road safety as well as how to use public transport. This programme has been a success through the commitment of staff and dedicated volunteers. Travelling independently will give you the freedom to do new things like going to work or college, going shopping or meeting up with friends. It will also build your confidence. If you would like support in this area, then get in touch.

Going Underground The use of public transport to take our clients on various outings and educational visits has proved beneficial in more ways than one. For most of them, it’s the first time they have experienced using the underground system. Prior to the outings we prepare our clients by showing them how to read the tube map, how to differentiate between the different tube lines and how to plan their journey. Using the Internet we show them how to check for ‘Live’ updates and to use the online journey planner. We also brief our clients on the importance of staying safe when using public transport.
On the road to success 25 year old Nazia Hussein has always been eager to get behind the wheel and lead a more independent life. Ranu introduced Nazia to The Red Alert Driving School who are very supportive of her needs. So far, Nazia has taken 8 driving lessons: "At first I was really nervous but now I feel really confident and I’m really enjoying the experience. When I pass my test I am hoping to buy myself a Volkswagen Beetle. I would like to say a big thank you to Ranu for arranging my driving lessons. I look forward to the day when I will have my own car and take Ranu out for a drive."
