When friends are together, parents and carers can get a rest. Through the friendships, outings, events, clubs and other services provided by Link Up, parents and carers get thousands of hours of respite.  As we use a robust system of forming and monitoring friendships, there is a natural confidence built up by parents and carers which enables them to relax knowing that the person they care for is enjoying a positive experience.

Some quotes from parents and carers:

"When they are together I can have a leisurely bath and relax with some time for me."
Eleanor, Mother of a 14 year old girl with Down Syndrome

"It's amazing, the change I've seen in him since he met Gerry. Now I can have Saturday mornings to myself knowing that he is enjoying his independence"
Jeff, Father of a 24 year old man with mild learning disabilities

"When the friends go out together it gives the other residents more space and helps them to relax"
Thelma, Deputy Manager of a residential home

"The whole family benefit from Suki's friendship with Tony. We get more time to talk about things without worrying about Suki"
Dipti, Suki's Mother
