Friendships are what Link Up is all about. When someone applies to us to find them a friend we make an appointment to see them and get to know them better. Once we have an idea of who we are looking for we consider all of our free volunteers and any new people who may come forward to volunteer from time to time.

The matching process is made as natural as possible. Usually we will arrange a social event with several people where new friends can get to know each other.

People are matched on a compatibility basis rather than first come first served. This ensures the best chance of a successful friendship.

Friendships don't always work. There are many reasons why friendships may not develop. If this happens we don't give up. We will try to find another friend as soon as possible.

Finally, as we rely on the goodwill and time of volunteers, it usually takes a long time to find a friend.
