We have a number of exciting projects you could get involved with. We want to include people in a positive way in order to encourage them to make a difference in the community.

Support our clients in developing ICT skills at our 1:1 Computer Club
Karaoke time at our 1:1 Junior Club! The club runs once a month where our volunteers engage our clients in various activities such a s pottery making, cooking, art and craft etc.
You could help out at various outings. This photo was taken at Legoland 2004. Other outings we have been on include a trip to Whipsnade Zoo, ten pin bowling, Thorpe Park, picnics and many more!
We run a nightclub for all our clients over 18. The atmosphere is always buzzing. We are always looking for volunteers who can help with the setting up and making sure things run smoothly on the night.
If you are at school or college, could you hold a fund raising event eg mufti day?
You could get involved in a 1:1 friendship. By building a friendship you could make a big difference in somebody's life.
In 2004, two of our volunteers were given achievement awards by the Harrow Observer. Anish Raitatha won 1st prize in the Young Volunteer category with runner-up prize going to Abi Selva. Both have provided on-going support and commitment to our clients.

Why do people volunteer? People volunteer for many different reasons. Mostly, they have some time to spare and want to do something, which is both helpful and enjoyable. Volunteering with Link Up is very flexible and rewarding. Why do people need friends? We all need friends to share things with and to help us at times. People with learning disabilities enjoy having friends who are not from their family or care group. It helps them to: Create links with the wider community Develop their natural gifts Increase their self-esteem Feel valued Be more independent Give something of themselves, which is valued by others
