For Arts Sake! September 2002 saw the launch of the Artspace Programme; a not for profit organisation formed by residential artists Sue Williams and Jane Landes, who are working towards putting together an art exhibition of monoprints, a book launch and workshops as part of the Harrow Arts Festival. The event was a culmination of the Artspace Disability Works Project, which invited twelve people with learning disabilities from Harrow to work with the artists on a year long arts project. The project aims were to introduce our friends to the world of art and allowing them to make a personal connection between their works of art and their daily lives. The workshops were a great opportunity for our friends to relate to other students who have the same interests. Link Up placed a number of their friends on this project all of whom produced exceptional works of art. At the end of the academic year the students had the opportunity to exhibit and sell their works at an Art Exhibition, which took place in July 2003. Some of the creative prints that were on show:
All exhibits were on display in West House, Pinner Memorial Park during 7 – 19 July 2003. The exhibition was opened by TV personality Nina Wadia from ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ and was open to all members of the public with no admission charge.

As part of the project a book was put together which details a step by step guide in how to monoprint, priced at £10.00. All photographs and artwork used in the book were contributed by the participants. Workshops were also open to the general public to explore and discuss different art techniques with specialised workshops for those working with people with learning disabilities. The book gives special thanks to Link Up for their support. All proceeds from the exhibition have gone towards the cost of the project and future projects.
